The Code (03 décembre 2004)

Voici avec Marc qui fait partie de la formation The Code sur Anti-Flag Records. C'est un groupe punk très engagé et coloré qui sera à surveiller dans les mois et les années à venir.

Where are you now, and where would you rather be?

I am sitting at a computer at the A-F Records offices wishing I was back out on tour. The code has a lot of shit in store for next year so keep your eyes pealed!

Describe your band in 7 words or less

Brutal dudes forever!

What makes your band want to rock every night?

I think about this question a lot actually. I hope that we do what we do because it’s who we are not who people want us to be or how they want us to look, act, or fit into some silly mold. I know when I get up on a stage I want to attack everyone in the room with passion and my ideas. But not just attack them I want to spark those emotions and ideas that they have suppressed in their own lives. It’s about creating a place where like minds or not so a-like minds can come together and create a new dialog.

Is your band entertainment? Explain.

Music by nature is here to provide an escape from the monotony of life... I would be kidding myself if I refused to except that what I do is "entertainment." Of course its entertainment but what we try to do is bring some substance to the table. I believe you can be both entertained and express your ideas at the same time.

What did you have to do to get a label to notice you?

We just did what we do best and that was rocking out! We played a lot of shows around Pittsburgh and that where we hooked up with #2 from anti-flags other band "Whatever it Takes". We played a lot of shows with them and #2 liked us and played our demo for the rest of the dudes in A-F. So that what got us to this point...

Did you ever listen to the advice you received from others? Did you rise or fall?

I always try to take every bit of advice that people give me for what it is and see where it fits into my life. As far as advice about The Code I tend to listen to my band-mates advice or other people who know what its like to eat crow (because your trying to make your band work) more often. Even when you take bad advice and end up getting fucked over, its better than being close minded and never knowing what you might have learned.

If you had to add an instrument to your band (different from the ones you already have), which one would you choose and why?

A chainsaw... Because its much easier to tear shit up with that than it is amicrophone.

What’s the best thing you learned because of your band?

How to get by on the least in this world. I've also learned that there is so much more to this world than what we see from day in to day out.

What’s the worst thing you lost because of your band?

Money... and lots of it!

What’s your closest encounter with the third kind or any other paranormal activity?

I seriously have too many close encounters with paranormal activity so I don't know where to start. Let me just say that I see crazy shit all the time...

What quote first comes to your mind?

Be the change you want to see- ghandi

When I think of Canada, I think of…

Tim Hortons and all the many cold nights we've slept in parking lots.

If you had to play a benefit concert, what would it be for, and who would play?

Well right now it would be, and has been, Anti-War rallies. I believe that we need to keep telling those mother-fuckers who own control of the war machines that we don't agree with their endless war for economic interests. It takes more that a revolution to change the world. It has to manifest in each and everything we do in our lives day in and day out!
